The International Encounter “ISLAM IN EUROPE” that the Mosque of Granada hosts every summer, will take place this year from Thursday 10th to Sunday 13th of July.
 
The theme of this year’s Conference will be Education, in all its dimensions, and its pivotal position in Islam.
 
During the days of the Encounter we expect to formulate plans of action and to undertake practical steps related to the education of our children and the young people in our Muslim communities in Europe, without forgetting the imperatives of transmitting the Deen at home and the civic dimensions of education. Muslims uphold this latter quality, which is rapidly deteriorating in western societies, as a part of their social responsibility as neighbours and citizens and in their spiritual education, the science of suluk, a process of transformation and purification of character that has no time-limit and is central to the life of the Muslim.
 
Special attention will be focussed on the learning of Islamic sciences, the requisites for a faqih and the issue of Imams in Europe.

At the conclusion of the Encounter we aim to give decisive support to the Primary School of Granada and the activities of Al-Andalus Foundation for Education as well as to gain knowledge of and give support to the educational projects undertaken by our communities in Europe and abroad and to provide real opportunities and choices for both our youth and adults.
